Transmission Activity
The electricity transmission business is developed through the company Red Eléctrica Chile SPA, a subsidiary of Redinter. This company is responsible for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of transmission lines in the north of Chile and is currently in the project development stage.
Red Eléctrica Chile SpA is responsible for acquiring, holding, administrating, and managing the assets of its parent company, Redinter, in Chile.
In May 2016, REDENOR was awarded a project for constructing, operating, and maintaining a 278-kilometres, 220 kV transmission line, as well as constructing a Nueva Pozo Almonte substation and three line inlets.
Red Eléctrica del Norte 2 S.A. (REDENOR 2) was incorporated in July 2018 and entered into a share purchase agreement with Centinela Transmisión S.A., a company owned by Minera Centinela S.A. REDENOR 2 is responsible for acquiring, administrating, and managing the fixed assets of Minera Centinela, as well as operating and maintaining the transmission line.
Transmisora Eléctrica del Norte (TEN) is the company that operates of 500 kV power transmission line that spans approximately 600 kilometres and connects Mejillones (Antofagasta) to Copiapó. This transmission line links the Norte Grande (SING) and Central (SIC) electricity systems in Chile.
